ChaosTools was the product of my LSMSA Distinction project. An student proposes a distinction project towards the end of their junior year, and spends the rest of the next year or so researching and writing and doing whatever else their project requires. Mine was titled “Efficient Tools for the Study of Chaos, Deep Zooms into the Mandelbrot Set, and 3-Dimensional Slices of 4-Dimensional Quaternion Sets.” A mouthful, I know.
The project produced software, dubbed ChaosTools, which is now open source and can be found at GitHub:
